Why is it important?

Reinforcing the traditional uses of Morinda morindoides in African countries, namely antibacterial, antifungal, anti-diarrhea effects, etc. by providing scientific evidence. Some active ingredients were mentioned and should be deeper investigated for their mechanisms.

Perspectives

This review gave a summary of pharmacological actions of Morinda morindoides with scientific evidence. Its decoction traditionally used for antibacterial, antifungal, anti-diarrhea activities were confirmed. Some other bioactivities were interesting. However, the constituents found or the active ingredients leading to its effect were not the unique compounds of the plants.
