What is it about?

Here we describe a rare cardiac adverse effect of mesalamine, a common therapeutic used to treat inflammatory bowel disease.

Why is it important?

Onset of chest pain after mesalamine and improvement of symptoms, cardiac biomarkers and left ventricular systolic function after discontinuing the drug, suggests that our patient suffered from a rare drug-hypersensitivity reaction to mesalamine.
