Why is it important?
The history of development of evergreen oak in the Atlantic climatic domain of the Iberian Peninsula has been the subject of past investigations. This new study in addition to considering the old evidence from natural deposits also integrates all available data from archeological sites.
Perspectives
We hope that the inclusion of anthracological data from prehistoric sites may offer broader perspectives for the study of this taxon in other Atlantic areas of western Europe where Q ilex is currently located.
