What is it about?

The research is based on financial data of 168 aquaculture firms 133 of them involved in fish farming and 35 vertically integrated in the production of frozen fish. The period of analysis covers the period 2002-2011. Financial data for those firms were collected from the ICAP Hellas.

Why is it important?

Efficient management of resources is important, as well as profitability and productivity that can promote the competitiveness of Greek fisheries.

Perspectives

Productivity increases with the size of the firm; age is not a significant determinant while exports are critical for their productivity, as well as firms' profitability.
