What is it about?

As a STEM learning, Japanese students took on challenges for PBL discussion and making things virtually. The big topic was renewal energy. What kinds of facilities or machines based on renewable energy did they like? Discuss and show it by things they would make virtually? That was their PBL topic. Students did everything under the lead and guide by a US teacher. Actually, this was a good STEM learning as well as a virtual PBL for students to increase their creativity.

Why is it important?

The project had the following meanings. #1: A concrete example for STEM learning in virtual space. #2: A concrete example for PBL (Problem Based Learning) in virtual space. #3: A concrete example for creative engineering design education. #4: A concrete example for practical English learning virtually. #5: A concrete example for brand new e-learning model.

Perspectives

The paper shows us concrete examples for virtual creative engineering design learning as STEM and also as PBL. Teachers could utilize and incorporate the example into their activities in various ways.
