What is it about?

Research administrators and policy makers wish to have relevant data at hand to set out future policy actions. However, "relevant data" are hard to define. There are not only technical barriers (data are in different "containers"), but also semantic difficulties (e.g. what is a research unit, what are "relevant" publication data).

Why is it important?

We show how we dealt with the demand for more data to set out policy plans at KU Leuven. A collaboration between the ICT service and the Research Office resulted in a ready-made set of indicators that authorised staff can use.
