What is it about?
Polymer crystals were formed in a periodic fashion, induced by carbon nanotubes forming a newly discovered nanohybrid shish–kebab (NHSK) structure. The polymers polyethylene and Nylon 6,6 formed crystals regularly along single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs), multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs), and vapor grown carbon nanofibers (CNFs). The formation mechanism was attributed to “size-dependent soft epitaxy”. The impact of CNTs on the polymer crystallization behavior is discussed.
