Why is it important?

This paper clarifies the dimesnionality of coping and also shows how these dimensions are commonly found across studies, but oddly tend to get overlooked in the literature -- see Litman & Lunsford, 2009 for why this matters.

Perspectives

This paper and Litman & Lunsford 2009 basically show that the old "problem focused" v. "emotion focused" distinction is not especially meaningful... read both to get a clearer perspective on what it means to try and cope with stress.
