What is it about?

KF-KYb 3 F 10 : Tm 3+ nanocomposites (about 60 nm) are prepared by hydrothermal technique and identified as Potassium Ytterbium Fluoride structure. The nanoparticles emit white light with high brightness when excited using a diode laser at 980 nm. EDS analysis confirmed the presence of K, F, Tm and Yb elements. UC emission of samples with different concentrations of Tm 3+ , 20% Yb 3+ is compared. Intense UC emission obtained with Tm 3+concentration of about 1-mol%. The results are discussed through possible UC mechanisms.
