Why is it important?

A high prevalence of cataracts means more health resources should be devoted to this condition.

Perspectives

There are potential challenges in the provision of cataract surgery. Patients must be well education in the post operative care. Post operative review should be done at appropriate times to treat complications, particularly endophthalmitis, which may result in blindness.
