Because not only a cutting process has to be designed to reduce waste of material, but cuts should be scheduled so that orders are fulfilled on time.
Perspectives
Optimal cut scheduling is a very complex problem with many variants depending on practical requirements and implementation. Just few variants have been investigated so far; some not yet studied appear interesting from both a practical and a technical viewpoint.
