What is it about?

In this paper, we demonstrate the role of the GluK1 receptor. We provide evidence that activation of these receptors may lead to anxiogenic and seizurogenic activity in the amygdala

Why is it important?

As the amygdala plays such an important role in emotion, anxiety, and seizures, finding methods to reduce its activation is essential. The GluK5 subunit is highly expressed in the basolateral amygdala. We provide evidence for its role in anxiety and seizures and find that inactivation of these receptors will reduce amygdala associated behavioral deficits.
