What is it about?

NOS-2 is a protein that initiates the production of nitric oxide; in the brain, it is related to inflammatory states. We have shown for the first time that, in zebrafish, alcohol withdrawal increases nitric oxide in the brain, and that blocking NOS-2 with a drug called aminoguanidine stops both this neurochemical effect and the behavioral consequences of withdrawal.
