What is it about?

Extinction of remote contextual fear memory is an important task for the therapy of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Histone deacetylase inhibitors are known to be effective for this treatment. Unsing gene expression analysis, we proposed a new mechanism od HDACi.

Why is it important?

In contrast to the general belief that HDACi affect gene expression through the interaction with histone deacetylase, it was suggested that HDACi directly as well as through the interaction with transcription factor affect gene expression.

Perspectives

I invented the principal component analysis (PCA) based unsupervised feature extraction (FE) several years ago. In this study, I applied this methodology to the integrated analysis of two distinct HDACi.
