What is it about?
We created tiny nano-sized, kidney-homing "gene delivery packages" that instruct kidney cells to produce a healing protein (BMP7). In mice with kidney disease, these particles reduced scarring, protected kidney tissue, improved function, and even helped the kidneys repair themselves. This approach could lead to better treatments for chronic kidney disease in the future.
