What is it about?
Plastic instability in metallic materials is an undesirable phenomenon affecting its deformation behaviour. In this work we have investigated the anisotropy in serration tendency in an Al-Cu-Li alloy. Origin of this anisotropy was traced to the anisotropy in grain morphology and texture of the material.

Why is it important?
This was the first time anisotropy in serrated behaviour in AA2195 rolled plate is investigated.
Perspectives
Contributing to this work was a great experience and and outcome of our collaboration. Origin of the serrations in Al-Li based alloy still need to be explored.
