What is it about?

This paper shows that polylactide and polycaprolactone enhance selected biological properties of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hUC-MSCs). We have demonstrated that the physicochemical properties of PLA and PCL surfaces impacted the proliferation, motility and differentiation potential of hUC-MSCs in vitro.

Why is it important?

Our findings show that PLA and PCL substrates may enhance spontaneous angiogenic differentiation of hUC-MSCs without additional chemical stimuli.
