What is it about?
This publication explores how textiles are becoming smarter by using new materials and internet-connected technologies. Smart materials can react to things like heat or pressure, while Internet of Things (IoT) devices help fabrics collect and share information. Together, they create clothing that can monitor your health, adjust to temperature, or even connect to your phone. These innovations are useful in healthcare, sports, fashion, and safety gear. Our study explains how these smart textiles work, why they matter, and what challenges need to be solved to use them more widely.

Why is it important?
What makes this work unique is its comprehensive theoretical analysis of how smart materials and IoT technologies can be integrated into textile applications across multiple industries. While many studies focus on either smart materials or IoT in isolation, this publication examines their combined potential to revolutionize textile products. The timing is critical, as the demand for intelligent wearables and responsive fabrics is rapidly growing in healthcare, sports, defense, and fashion. This work highlights both the opportunities and technical challenges, offering valuable insights for researchers, designers, and manufacturers looking to innovate in the smart textile space.
Perspectives
From my point of view, this publication reflects my deep interest in bridging the gap between advanced materials and real-world applications. I’ve always been fascinated by how textiles—something so familiar in daily life—can be transformed into intelligent systems that sense, adapt, and respond. Working on this paper allowed me to explore the exciting possibilities at the intersection of smart materials and digital connectivity. I believe this field will play a major role in shaping the future of healthcare, personal safety, and even fashion, and I’m proud to contribute to that ongoing conversation through this work.
