What is it about?

Many of like to use global grids because they are easy to use and often allow us to benefit from measurements that are otherwise confidential. To develop analyses from them, however, we should know where the measurements were made (often individual grid values are interpolated) and how they were processed. In this comment, we illustrate the problems that can arise. For example, variations in estimated geothermal heat-flow from the Red Sea by Saada et al. correlate with the density of shipboard magnetic anomaly measurements, so those variations are almost certainly an artifact of the grid construction. This was not clear from the documented provided.
