What is it about?
Zearalenone is successfully removed by four Lactobacillus strains by adsorption and biodegradation to a less hazardous form. • Heat treatment improved the removal of ZEN from inactivated cells. • Bacterial strains exhibit a number of intercellular linkages during the adsorption process. • Strains also involved in degradation of ZEN into zearalenone sulfate (m/z 397.06) and β-zearalanol (β-ZAL m/z 321.13).
