What is it about?
Compared to authors from developed countries (e.g. USA, UK), authors from developing countries (e.g. Chinese and Indians) make more use of proxy factors such as brand, reputation of publisher, authors etc to trust an article and decide to read or cite it.

It shows differences in scholarly practices in different countries. More investigation is needed to know if these differences are due to different cultures or due to different levels of scientific developments or maybe due to the fact that the current mainstream scholarly publishing system is mainly owned and run by developed countries and scientists from countries such as India and China feel like outsiders.
