What is it about?
This manuscript describes a comparison of hair morphology and mtDNA sequence variation for the identification of five small cat species and highlights the use of DNA variation if hair morphological feature fails in the differentiation of the closely related taxa. We examined three mtDNA genes i.e. 12S rRNA, 16S rRNA and Cyt b and demonstrated that any of these markers can be utilized for the unambiguous identification of closely related small cats.
