Post stroke services are highly contextual, related to the availability of public funding and cultural patterns.
Perspectives
There is no universal strategy used for providing post stroke services. This has implications for economic analysis of stroke prevention and treatment services as well as equity -- the shifting of services from the health care budget to out of pocket and indirect costs to patients and families. The key question is whether these patterns correspond to similar levels of met needs and desirability of options from the perspective of patient and family.
