What is it about?

Hiding fibre optics inside the surface of the material to grasp the behaviour of the material and to protect the fibre optic from environmental problems.

Why is it important?

We define the full process of fibre embedding inside aluminium. We show that successful embedding of fibre can be done at the surface of the material. The fibre can with high confidence report the behaviour of the host material.

Perspectives

This article opens a new window to innovative design in sensing embedded in materials.
