What is it about?

To improve the emission quantum efficiency by spectroscopic properties of the blends at differents percents.

Why is it important?

The application of rare earthdoped polymers to fluorescent and laser systems has large commercial, biomedical, and industrial interest.

Perspectives

The photoacoustic spectroscopy results evinced the existence of chemical interactions between [Eu(acac)3] and the PC/PMMA blend. Photoacoustic and photoluminescent properties suggested the preferable localization of the Eu complex in the PC phase. Doped blends present higher quantum efficiency values than that of the [Eu(acac)3(H2O)3] complex, suggesting that the novel system PC/PMMA blend acts as a sensitizer, reinforcing the energy transfer to the rare earth ion.
