What is it about?

This study investigates the influence of vibration on the way leg muscles function when repeatedly raising up on to your toes

Why is it important?

Heel raises are a common movement and exercise, despite this there is still controversy about exactly how the leg muscles work together to achieve the movement. Therefore, this article aim to help clarify the role of the soleus and gastrocnemius both with and without vibration.

Perspectives

One of the most interesting aspects of this study was the observation that during the movement the soleus muscles activity peaks before the gastrocnemius - regardless of the presence of vibration. This has not been previously reported elsewhere.
