What is it about?

Cation-exchangers designed for IC can be also used as a mixed-mode phases in HPLC due to their hydrophobic properties and ability to form hydrogen bonds. The comparison of cation-exchangers on retention of model ionogenic compounds is presented.

Why is it important?

A new scheme for the description of various cation-exchangers is proposed with emphasis on possible contribution of hydrophobic interaction into retention of organic ions.

Perspectives

The developed method can be used for the identification of cation-exchange columns, their classification on properties and selection for separation of organic ions.
