What is it about?

These changes are based on in-patients' needs and requirements. Data is collected from two private hospitals in Egypt through a survey with 200 in-patients. Results show that find plants and greenery, safety, and single rooms as the most important aspects to improve their wellbeing state.

Why is it important?

There is growing concern about the wellbeing state of individuals and societies as a whole. The focus on wellbeing increased with the rise of the field of Transformative Service Research (TSR), along with the field of Transformative Consumer Research (TCR), and Evidence-Based Design (EBD). Therefore, there is a calling need for new measures to improve societal wellbeing. This study puts the physical environment as a new approach for improving the recovery rate and wellbeing state of hospital patients.

Perspectives

Patients hate visiting hospitals and always mention that it makes them more sick. This means that something is missing in how hospitals operate. Therefore, the environment surrounding patients is really important. Hospitals should focus on giving patients a home like environment. This would positively reflect on patients, staff, physicians, and overall hospital objectives.
