What is it about?

In this paper we present a new method for fabrication of L10-ordered FePd thin alloy films. The laser annealing technique applied here allows to fabricate polycrystalline metallic alloy in much faster and easier way than conventional annealing methods.

Why is it important?

The L10-ordered FePd thin alloy film is being considered as a promising material for applications in hard disk drives with perpendicular magnetic recording. The search for faster and easier fabrication techniques of new magnetic materials is of great importance from the point of view of industrial applications. Here, we present a new and fast way to obtain metallic polycrystalline thin alloy films.
