What is it about?

Evaluate the effect of trace element contamination on the distribution of the benthic foraminiferal assemblages in the sediments of the Qarun Lake.

Why is it important?

The values of Shannon-Weaver index and Fisher index reveal that the benthic foraminiferal taxa in the Qarun Lake were subjected to a strong environmental stress. Ammonia tepida is more tolerant to pollution compared with the other species Bulimina spp. could be considered as sensitive species to pollution in the marine environment.
