What is it about?

This research work is basically about the sedimentologic features of the Cretaceous sediments of the Calabar Flank and their geochemical characteristics (organic and inorganic geochemistry).

Why is it important?

In one piece of write-up , it gives an overview of the source potentials of the Calabar Flank and the tectonic setting of the various sedimentary deposits from the geochemical point of view.

Perspectives

It is a must read for geoscientists around the world who deal essentially with evaluating the petroleum potentials of any sedimentary. Though preliminary, the methods applied are useful and gives the researcher a sense of understanding of the basin. From the findings, the basin has a very good potential for shale gas exploration, this the trend in which our future research within this basin and its like in the Nigerian region will be based.
