What is it about?

In Cameroon, there is an insufficiency of strawberry yields, resulting in their importation and high market prices. Consequently, strawberries have become a luxury item, out of reach for the average citizen. This study 12 carries out the inventory of the technique of production and marketing of strawberries in Cameroon

Why is it important?

Our findings show that the majority of farmers (65.35%) practiced mix cropping, especially with tomatoes, while 34.65% focused on monoculture. Back pain and pests were identified as the major constraints of strawberries production. The educational level and age were found to be influential factors in farmers' proposals for improving yields

Perspectives

Writing this article was a great pleasure as it has co-authors with whom I have had long standing collaborations. At the end of this study, we recommend training seminars allowing strawberry farmers to improve their cultivation technique to solve the problem of skilled labor; soilless cultivation to avoid back pain for strawberry farmers when picking, which would also reduce the action of soil pests; the installation of a drip irrigation system.
