What is it about?

A "Think Tank" of key stakeholders was convened in Washington, D.C. to develop a call to action focused on defining new models of care aimed at addressing cardiometabolic risk and disease. The group recommended an integrated, team-based approach involving interventions aimed at the community, health care system, and industry levels.

Why is it important?

For the first time, a group of key stakeholders from many disciplines convened to confirm a definition for metabolic syndrome and outline optimal care models and strategies to reduce the burden of cardiovascular risk in those with metabolic syndrome.

Perspectives

This was a great opportunity to meet other key opinion leaders and experts in the field of cardiometabolic disease. It was great to also see the variety of disciplines represented in the group and the consensus that a team-based approach is needed to address the significant burden of cardiometabolic disease.
