What is it about?

Coatings for catheters that deter/prevent microbes living on them.

Featured Image

Why is it important?

Catheters (tubes inserted in people) are used widely in healthcare and a huge problem is that they suffer from microbes growing on their surfaces which eventually renders them useless. Non-stick coatings are a potential solution to this problem.

Perspectives

As a chemist/chemical engineer I understand the importance of developing such novel coatings for medical devices.
