Why is it important?

In order to conduct empirical research on the effectiveness of case teaching it is necessary to first have a theory of how the case method is expected to lead to learning. This paper presents such a theory.

Perspectives

This paper builds on two of our previous publications; one dealing with the various innovations in teaching the case method and the other summarizing the research that has been conducted on the effectiveness of the case method in promoting learning.
