Perspectives

"This study indirectly argues that professors need to identify and match their supervising style to the expectations of their international students, which it was pointed out is feasible in a one-to-one context of an online doctorate program. Doctorate degrees are expensive products with long durations, so it is reasonable to place this accountability on the supervisor, instead of relying solely on the student to adjust their learning style. It was hypothesized that five learning mode factors of mentoring, rendering, interpreting, constructing, and schemata could help identify doctorate student preferences, thereby allowing supervisors to customize their teaching method to match international student expectations.
