Why is it important?
The analysis and synthesis of studies from the perspective of teacher educators during the pandemic could help further understand the strengths of initial teacher education (ITE) in remote teaching and identify areas for improvement. The insights gained from this review can inform necessary changes in ITE, aid in developing resilient and flexible ITE, and provide a foundation for future directions.
Perspectives
Synthesizing the experiences and practices of ITE teacher educators on a global scale is a multifaceted challenge, which a systematic review is uniquely equipped to provide. It combines fragmented individual research efforts into a more cohesive and robust body of evidence, which, in the case of this paper, highlights the role of teacher educators in ensuring education continuity despite adversities.
