What is it about?
A theophylline-palladium complex is used as a catalyst for the Sonogashira coupling reaction. It effectively promotes the reaction without the need for excessive heating or the addition of copper.

Why is it important?
The catalyst can be prepared at low cost simply through complex formation, without requiring complex synthesis.
Perspectives
have conducted research on palladium using theophylline for many years, evolving the focus from extraction and adsorption to catalytic applications. It was particularly gratifying to successfully utilize these systems in the Sonogashira coupling reaction. Moving forward, I plan to expand my research into the structures of these complexes and the synthesis of complexes with varying coordination geometries.
