What is it about?

This is about recognition of nitro-aromatic compounds by pi-decorate complex. In this study the role of oxygen-pi interactions is suggested to be one that could help in detection. While describing such phenomenon, mixed anionic complexes were observed and the uneven distribution of anions across two mono-nuclear metal complexes are shown.

Why is it important?

This is important as fundamental aspect of anion-pi interactions are explored through signal transduction and structure determination. The consequence on structure in the event of uneven anion distribution across two metal sites generating cocrystals between two metal complexes is revealed.

Perspectives

It would be challenging to anchor multiple numbers of similar or dissimilar complex cation within self-assemblies of different anions.
