What is it about?
This article shows how pine plantations change soil properties, in comparison to native tropical forests in the Brazilian highlands

Why is it important?
This work not only shows large soil organic carbon stocks under both pine and native forests, but also a very descriptive micromorphological analyses
Perspectives
I believe this is the first micromorphological description of podzolization in a heavy clay soils, promoted by pine-derived organic compounds. Also, the high C stocks found in all sites were the first hint the lead me into investigating the effect of high altitudes in stabilizing large amounts of soil C
