What is it about?
Low- and middle-income countries need to prioritize quality of life for their citizens. This is often posited to be at odds with the global concern for reducing greenhouse gas emissions that ensue from economic development. Using a detailed energy model for India, we show that placing sustainable development at the center of Indian climate policy can simultaneously help meet the country's international climate commitments while also improving quality of life.
