Why is it important?

Modern sensitivity analysis is now evolving into a formal and independent discipline. New areas such data science and machine learning benefit from sensitivity analysis. Sensitivity analysis is ever more needed in the context of responsible modelling especially when modelling feeds into policy or regulatory decisions.

Perspectives

The application of uncertainty and sensitivity analysis may lead to a revision (in either direction) of the severity of environmental threats based on point estimates, and their use is hence to be advised in the making of ecological policies.
