What is it about?

Hydropower is dependent on the water availability in rivers. On the other hand, as the present major source of renewable energy, it is useful to support and increase the energy production and to reduce the human induced Climate Change (CC). The subject of this paper is the impact evaluation of expected CC on future reservoir control, the assessment of variations in hydropower production, and the identification of possible changes in water management.

Why is it important?

- a reduction of 10 % is estimated in the electricity production with a high statistical significance level - the monthly modulation along the year of power production is expected to change - the interannual variability of production is predicted to increase - water conflicts among water uses are expected to intensify
