What is it about?

With the overwhelming amount of PCM composites out there, employing a multitude of unique nanofillers combinations, it becomes an arduous task to decide which one to go with for a certain application. However, despite their 'claimed' high performances, there remains doubt about their true performance from a practical aspect, especially for thermal energy storage applications. Herein, we use a figure-of-merit (FOM) approach to compare different composites' performances and suggest that such a FOM tool be employed to demonstrate the viability of a composite’s practical application.
