Learning to perform effective literature searches of the scientific literature means improving health professionals knowledge and a benefit in evidence-based care of patients.

Why is it important?
The objective of this paper is to introduce health professionals in literature search and outline some useful tools to plan, design and optimize the bibliographic search in health science databases.
Perspectives
This article is the continuation of a previous one entitled "Search for information in nursing. Sources and resources" (DOI https://doi.org/10.1016/j.enfi.2018.04.003). In the article I describe the steps and tools to perform an efficient literature search in health sciences.
