What is it about?

A specific thiosemicarbazone copper(II) complex has shown promise as a therapeutic agent by inducing apoptosis in gastric cancer cells through oxidative DNA damage and by targeting cancer stem cells to reduce their pluripotency. This complex, designated [Cu(L1)₂], generates reactive oxygen species (ROS), which damage DNA and trigger programmed cell death, while also demonstrating efficacy against cisplatin-resistant tumor cells.
