Why is it important?
MCP and IABP have the same effects on CO and LVSWI. Moreover, MCP increases the peripheral circulation without requiring any vascular access nor anticoagulation therapy.
Perspectives
MCP should not be considered as an alternative to IABP. MCP provides an opportunity for expanding the indications of AC to prehospital and outpatient therapy and introduces a new combined drug-device therapy niche in cardiology.
