What is it about?

Here we review the actual knowledge regarding the possible role of c-Src signaling in cystic fibrosis.

Why is it important?

c-Src in involved in regulation of many cellular activities and its chronic stimulation in cystic fibrosis could lead to a variety of altered functions through c-Src signaling.

Perspectives

The exact role of c-Src in the CFTR signaling events is not clear. It is related to ROS accumulation and IL-1b secretion, by yet unknown mechanisms that involve the initial Cl- accumulation and Cl- as a second messenger for CFTR, although not in the classical view of a ligand-receptor interaction.
