What is it about?

Measuring relative humidity is usually expetionally time consuming. Here we show that the percentage of bryophyte cover on trees correlates with measured relative humidity, and can therefore be used as a proxy.

Why is it important?

Bryophyte cover on trees can be directly used as a proxy for relative humidity.

Bryophyte cover on trees can be directly used as a proxy for relative humidity, but only within a given elevational belt or climatic region.
