A short introduction to this special issue of the journal focused on European funded TB drug discovery.

Why is it important?
This was initiated by our involvement in MM4TB under the leadership of Dr. Stewart Cole. I think its vitally important to highlight the challenges and successes if we are to get more funding from the EU.
Perspectives
As an outsider (based in the US) I think I bring different perspective. Also as a relative new researcher (10 yrs) I can perhaps see the context of the work done and how doing so much with relatively small amounts are funding are key. A great example of a large scale collaboration.
